I've Owned Many Cat Water Dishes Over The Years - This Is The Best
Here's an automatic water dish that makes sense. It is easy to fill, just pour water in the top, and there's a level mark visible which shows how much kitty has left.According to the specs, it automatically shuts off and the blue light turns red once the water level is drained; I haven't yet let it get low enough to test that feature.The instructions say that there's a switch on the cord to turn off the LED light, but it doesn't exist on this model. I'm not marking its rating down because of this as no such claim is made on the Amazon product features for this device. Just be aware that if you're going to use this in a sleeping area, blue light is notorious for brightening up bedrooms, and there's no way to turn it off.It came with extra filters which I haven't had to replace yet. I have not used the dripping devices as my kitties drink the water just fine without them and I want to avoid any oversplash if in fact there is any. A nice bonus is the mat which comes with this, it's very attractive.All in all, an effective kitty waterer which is quiet and attractive.

Nice waterer, quiet, not entirely as advertised, and cats underwhelmed
I bought this waterer because my cats loved the 2 previous ones I purchased that promptly died. I like the light so I can see the water level, but there is no switch to turn it off as advertised. The pump is very quiet and you don't even hear the water dripping. BUT there is no "catch" basin for the water - it comes off the flower and through the holes in the tray back to the reservoir. My cats prefer to drink from the drip and the catch basin. So they only use this occasionally, splitting their time with the plain old bowl of water.

Fantastic Fountain That is Dead Silent!
I purchased this fountain as a gift for my roommate, whose 9 year old Exotic Shorthair has trouble drinking from bowls, due to her breathing issues (poor thing's nose is soooooo tiny!)Every time she would lean down to drink from a water bowl, she would go through at least 2 minutes of snorting and snotting before she could drink anything - and it was heart wrenching to see. Knowing my roommate had her eye on buying a fountain, I came on Amazon and did some research, and settled on this fountain as being the best one for our needs.Now sweet Frou is having less congestion issues and is drinking a lot more, and much easier than she had been. This fountain is the perfect height for a small cat, it's silent, and it was easy to put together.I highly recommend this fountain!

Great item. Great customer service.
This was great for the 3 months it worked. Pump motor quit working just short of 3 months of use. Cats loved it until then. My senior cat was devastated that it was broken. She made her feelings known by yowling at us non-stop and swiping at me when I offered her a regular bowl of water. I emailed the company to ask about a warranty on the motor and purchased a replacement motor from Amazon in the mean time. The company responded the same day and on a Saturday with trouble shooting help. I was able to get the pump back in working order. The cat is pleased that her complaints elicited such a prompt response. I am even more pleased that she has stopped yowling. Great item and great customer service.

hurrah for tamper-proof fountains
I had a fountain with an open reservoir, which worked great until one of my cats decided she was a water baby and kept trying to go swimming. After several days of coming home to a flood, I realized I had to get a fountain she couldn't wade in. She can still flick it pretty far though, so I will have to continue using a larger mat than the one that came with it. It's very quiet and easy to put together. And I bet it'll stay cleaner since it won't be full of fur and other detritus now.Pictured here: the guilty party, bummed now that the best toy ever has been taken away.UPDATE Nov 2021: The pump stopped working. The light was flashing red (supposedly what it does when the filter need changing) but nothing I did (change the filter, clean the pump) made it start working again. Reading through the comments and questions, it seems a lot of people eventually have this problem. So I contacted the seller and they sent me a new pump, for free. It's working again. So for now, it gets to keep its 5 stars.

Pump should be cleaned!
After about 6 months, the pump motor failed. After a bit of looking around on Amazon, I saw the motor available for purchase. I read the product description for the motor and it said it should be cleaned twice monthly! I never cleaned the motor. So, I following the cleaning instructions, and upon re-assembly, the motor started working again. I also pulled quite a bit of cat hair out of the black sponge near the pump. I was going to rate this low for unreliability, but the failure was my fault for not performing proper maintenance. If the motor fails again, I'll just pay $13 for the motor instead of $25-50 for a new fountain.Also, my cats like the fountain quite a bit more than water bowls. They don't care about the motor noise. I like the light, as it give me a kitchen night light.
